"Enriching people's lives through my art is one of the most gratifying aspects of being a painter. So many of us turn to nature to keep our fast paced, busy lives balanced. I enjoy painting dancers, still life and Northwest landscapes. Vibrant color and patterns of light are elements I use to create a sense of movement and optimism."
Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Lanie studied at Stevenson Academy of Fine Arts, New York and Gage Academy, Seattle, WA. By glazing multiple layers of oil color, she achieves the profuse, luminous quality of early morning or late afternoon light. Her paintings have been described by collectors as rich, lush, elegant and evocative. They are in corporate and private collections throughout this region and the United States.
Since moving to Seattle in 1995, Lanie has painted numerous commissioned works. These include 35 paintings for 23 individuals and a total of 14 paintings for Zymogenetics, Seattle Science Foundation and Gonzaga University combined.
