Museum of Northwest Art - Museum Store Opportunity
PSG has been invited by the Museum of Northwest Art to become regular providers of art for their Museum Store. PSG President Pat Halsell and Exhibitions Chair Michelle Friars traveled to La Conner to see the space in person. We are excited by what we learned.
The Store has space for up to twenty smaller works. It is located in the heart of La Conner where they average over 1000 visitors a month, regularly selling work in the $400-700 range with a few pieces for up to $1000. Their holdings include a number of our legacy artists and there is excitement on both sides at continuing the relationship.
PSG will provide four to five pieces of artwork from each of four to five artists on a quarterly rotating basis. MoNA’s immediate deadline didn’t allow time for a membership-wide open call, so a quick initial show was put together featuring the work of four member artists, W.G. Hook, Christine Sharp, Beth Betker and Joy Hagen. The Museum was delighted with what we provided and is looking forward to future shows.
Watch for a general call soon to establish a pool of work to cover the next four quarters. If you’d like to plan ahead, we’ll be looking for framed 2D work, originals only, no larger than about 18” on the longest side. Works should be priced from $200-800 with no more than one exceeding that range. MoNA takes a 50% commission which should be taken into account in pricing. We need a range of work at multiple price points. We understand that this may be low for some established artists, however they may consider submitting high quality studies. To be considered, your work will need to be photographed and ready to submit via email in jpg format. More details to come next month about this exciting opportunity.
Washington State Convention Center (WSCC) Proposal
In March, PSG submitted a proposal for an exhibition of member work in 2017 in the WSCC. We felt it was a strong proposal, unfortunately it was not accepted. No reasons were given beyond “so many strong proposals submitted. . .tough decision.” We’ll attempt to find out more to improve our chances next time.
