About

Puget Sound Group Northwest Artists (PSG) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the discovery and development of extraordinary independent artists and audiences in the Pacific Northwest. 

One of the oldest artist associations in the United States, PSG is committed to supporting the visual arts through four core programs: scholarship, education, fellowship and historic preservation.

PSG was formed in 1928 by Eustace Ziegler and Dr. Richard Fuller, a national leader in the arts and founder of the Seattle Art Museum. Many prominent artists such as Guy Anderson, Kenneth Callahan, Morris Graves and Sydney Laurence have been members.

For nearly ninety years, PSG has sustained a rich community legacy by distributing over $100,000 in annual scholarships to local art students. Today, the organization has expanded programming to include a free and open to the public Artist Salon series, along with exclusive member opportunities for exhibition and mentorship.

The Story Behind Our Logo

Our new logo was generously donated by Michael Courtney Design. Following is Michael's description about the story behind this unique logo:

When we began our design work on the logo, we thought a non-corporate mark would be appropriate for a group of artists. We were looking for something more personal and unique for the organization.

One of the themes we explored included the idea of what was common among visual artists. We realized most artists sign their work, and each signature has personality and character whether signed with a pencil, a brush or a chisel.

We drew about a dozen PSGNA ‘signatures’, vertically and horizontally (in pencil) and presented the idea to the Team. After receiving approval to proceed, we redrew the ‘signature’ in with pencil, pens, and refined it digitally, producing the right balance to reproduce in print, digital and social media.
