Artist Bio

Born in Yakima, Washington, 1953, Mr. White is a Regional, National, and International Award Winning Artist in Painting and Sculpture. He has a strong respect for the natural wonders of the world and tries to capture that essence in his artwork. He divides his time between Painting, Stone Sculpture, Ceramic Sculpture, Bronzes and Large Public Sculptures.

His artistic encouragement started at age ten, as one of the Winners in a National Contest sponsored by the Post Cereal Company and the US Postal Service, winning a bicycle.

He dedicated his first New York City Exhibit at 27 years old to a Mentor and Friend, the late Actor/Artist Mr. Henry Fonda. From that show he was invited to exhibit at The International Center of Fine Contemporary Art in Paris, France. Mr. White was the first artist to have had two paintings selected for The Long Beach Museum of Arts National Juried Competition in New York City in 1981.

In 2002, The Artist’s Magazine Annual International Competition selected his Stone Sculpture “The Night Watchman” as the Top Thirty Artists from over 14,000 entries World Wide. The Society of Animal Artist’s Annual International Competition selected this Sculpture for the Highest Honor and Medal, plus Honoring him as Signature Member on his first entry. His art is included in Private, Corporate, and City Collections.

Leon’s philosophy: “The beauty of life is so precious and plentiful. One should tap all his God given talents, pursue them to the best of his ability, and share with others everything he has to offer”.
