Don has been a Mercer Island resident for over forty years and recently semi-retired from his dental practice. He served on the Mercer Island ARTS council in the early nineties. Don's studio is located on the third floor of his home where he can hibernate whenever the mood to paint hits him. He has won numerous awards and has many paintings in private and corporate collections, both in the United States and abroad.
Even though I have a preconceived idea of what my painting will be upon completion, I rely heavily on the pigments to do their own thing. Most of my paintings come from within my mind rather than copying nature. They are impressions of things I have past experienced and the paints and I become partners in producing the final product.
